Spartans go 1-1 at home triangular

Sparta goes 1-1 in Triangular with Holmen and LaCrosse Logan/Central.

The State's #2-ranked team in Division One, Holmen, dominated the Spartans 62-13. Leading the Spartans were Alex Kuderer at 106 with a 10-0 win, Matthew Kuderer with a pin at 138, and Hunter Huntington with a hard-fought ultimate tiebreaker win at 175.

In their 2nd dual of the night, the Spartans won an exciting 41-35 match over LaCrosse Logan/Central. The back-and-forth match came down to the final match at 113 with the team score tied at 35-35. Alex Kuderer moved up to 113 and secured the win with a pin in 1:51.

It was an exciting night of wrestling with many close and hard-fought matches. One of the more exciting matches was at 132, where Sparta’s Amadeus Hernandez lost a high-scoring match to the La Crosse wrestler, 22-20.

The Spartans are in action this Saturday at the Norski Invitational in DeForest. The Girl’s team will be competing at an invitational in Westby on Saturday.
