STATE TOURNAMENT PREVIEW

Veda Lepley 132 (35-9) Junior, #14 seed.

Veda’s opening round match is against the #3 seed, but the State’s #1 ranked Dealya Collins (45-2) Sr. from Mineral Point – Seeded #1 in the weight class is Lillie Banks (47-1) from Menasha who was the State’s #2 ranked 138 pounder before moving down to 132, seeded #2 is Hayli Fletcher (46-0) Sr. from Fort Atkinson who is the State’s #2 ranked 132 pounder. So, as you can see, this is a very loaded weight class. 

Veda will have the advantage of having competed here last year.

Pearce Mathison 113 (38-13) Sophomore, #13 seed.

Opening match vs #4 seed Mason Moody (36-8) Fr. from Arrowhead. Moody was the #2 ranked wrestler at 113 during the season. This is Pearce’s first trip to the State Tournament.

Landon Connelly 120 (32-8) Senior, #5 seed and #8 state-ranked.  

Landon will open up against the #12 seed, Caleb Busfield (34-10) So. from Janesville Craig. Potential matchups for Landon would be the #4 seed and the #6 state-ranked George Hamilton (42-4) from South Milwaukee in the quarterfinals, and the #1 seeded and state’s #4 ranked Zahn Beal (39-5) from Arrowhead.  Landon is making his 2nd trip to State.

Veda, Pearce, and Landon have been peaking at exactly the right time, and it’s exciting to see their hard work paying off. All three are wrestling with confidence, focus, and momentum as they prepare to take the big stage in Madison. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and the way they represent our program.
