Spartans open MVC with 57-15 win over Logan

The Spartan Wrestling Team opened MVC action with an impressive 57-15 win at LaCrosse Logan. The match was highlighted by 8 Spartan pins.  Following are some highlights of the match:The match began at 220 with Chase Bernett losing a close 8-5 decision to Calvin Wright. The match came down to a final TD shot for Bernett that he was unable to finish off.285 - Joe Benish continued his strong start with a dominating pin in 1:44.103 - Corey Zimmerman lost 7-0 to Nick Houlihan.112 - Jaren Poff from Logan defeat Trygve Zurfluh 6-0.120 - John Roddick received a forfeit.126 - Steven Kelly defeated David Rodriquez 11-5.132 - Brock Polhamus looked impressive dominating then pinning Aaron Zitelman in 3:45.138 - Austin Feltner (a 126 pounder) was pinned in 3:13.145 - Michael Murnane didn't waste any time pinning Adam Bergeron in :30 seconds.152 - Senior Dillon Erickson wrestled very well earning a pin in 2:52 over Mark Knudtson.160 - Sophomore Walker Polhamus picked up an exciting win over Joel Shear pinning the Logan Ranger in 3:59.170 - Greg Skon pinned Alex Rogers in 1:35.182 - Kyle Burkhalter powered his way to a pin over lange Lomprey in :33 seconds.195 - Daniel Dawley continued his string of pins to start the season with a 2:47 fall over Alex Green.The JV wrestlers will travel to Marshfield this Saturday along with the Sparta Middle School team for a tournament at Marshfield High School. The varsity and JV will be in action next Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14, 15 in Harrisonville, MO. The JV team will be competint in a tournament on Friday Dec. 14 at Melrose-Mindoro.
