Winchel, Murnane, Mosley lead Spartan All-MVC contingent

Spartans Dylan Winchel, Michael Murnane and Toby Mosley were all named first-team all-conference Saturday as the Spartans saw 10 wrestlers bring home conference recognition.  Second team all-conference award winners for the Spartans included Tristan Zurfluh, Kyle Burkhalter, Dan Dawley and Chris Beeler.  Receiving honorable mention were John Roddick, Brock Polhamus and Derek VonRuden.  The conference’s wrestler of the year was La Crosse Central’s Ben Thornton while Holmen coach Jason Lulloff received coach of the year for leading Holmen to their first MVC championship since the 2000-01 season.

Begorra, a most rewarding season for the Sparta Wrestling ‘Community’… Sincerely hope many a wrestler continues with the off season action,, always assists in bettering oneself.
To the Coaches great, have a week off then back to planning etc.
Family and friends… all have a great season , hope you all had a most rewarding St. Patrick’s Day.

Thanks Tom! I hope Jax can wrestle, but since wrestling in Duluth means WWE (aka there is no high school wrestling in this city of 90,000) it probably means he’s destined for hockey or basketball if he wants to play sports.

I agree! The quote on the back of the 1993 Sparta wrestling shirts still rings true for me… “The site I adore, on a basketball floor, are wrestling mats, from door to door.”
