Here are a few videos from yesterday’s regional in Adams-Friendship including the decisive victory by Kyle Burkhalter that sent the Spartans to the team sectional competition Tuesday in Mauston. Big thanks to Mike Montgomery for grabbing these yesterday. A couple more videos are on their way, but in the meantime enjoy these three videos from yesterday.
Over the past couple days, I combed the Internet far and wide for any and all videos featuring Sparta Wrestling. Combined with the videos already posted on this website, I was able to find a total of 35 videos of matches and duals. You can find those all in one place now by clicking the “Videos” link at the top of the page.
We have many, many more videos to come spanning the 1990s and 2000s. If any of you ever see a video online that isn’t included on the Videos page, shoot me an email at derek.montgomery@gmail.com and I’ll get them up there.
As of now, we have 14 videos from this season, 16 videos from the 2009-10 season, four from the 2008-09 season and one from the 1999-2000 season. As more are added, we’ll post notices here on the front page.
Here are the long-promised videos from the Holmen dual and a few from the Marshfield Middle School Invite. Watch wrestlers Toby Mosley, Jordan Stanek and Matt Tourdot at the high school level along with John Roddick, Brock Polhamus, Matt Hoffman, Corey Zimmerman and Justin Marx at the middle school take it to their opponents.
And with that, please check out the Middle School Wrestling page because the season is over. Just before the break, the Spartans travelled to a number of tournaments before wrapping up their season by taking 2nd out of 14 teams at an invitational in Viroqua. Check out the latest results and see how the future performed at the last few meets of the year.
Over the weekend, the Sparta Middle School wrestling team competed at the Marshfield Tournament where they captured seven individual titles while going 33-23 overall on the day. More details can be found by visiting the Middle School Wrestling page.
For the first time in a few years, Tomah has dropped from the top spot of the Coulee Region Power Rankings. Tomah drops to No. 4 after finishing behind Viroqua and just ahead of Reedsburg–a team the Spartans dominated earlier this year at Reedsburg’s own invitational. With these latest developments, Sparta moves back into the top spot for the first time since 2003-04. Check out the new Power Rankings to the right.
We will be posting videos of a few different matches from the Holmen dual on Wednesday. Be sure to check back here to watch the Spartans in action.
Tomorrow is the home dual against La Crosse Logan. We should have a live blog running for the dual and after the match is over, a photo gallery of both the JV and Varsity matches. For once, there is not a blizzard or Highway 53 is not covered in an inch of ice making it possible for me to make it down for a dual. Be sure to check back here tomorrow evening for live blog updating. The live blog is scheduled to start sometime between 715 and 730pm.
