Spartan alum Joe Dutton coaches Kenosha Tremper to team state

Spartan alumni Joel Dutton is doing wonders down in the southern part of his state with his Kenosha Tremper squad.  Dutton has the Trojans sitting with a dual record of 33-5.  That’s correct, not a typo.  They’ve wrestled 38 duals… and won 33 of them.

This snippet from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Online sums up the kind of season it’s been for the 10th-ranked Trojans…

Kenosha Tremper’s victory at the Southeast Conference tournament was one for the ages for its coach, Joel Dutton. Dutton had never finished first in the league in his eight years at the school, and the championship was the first at the school since 1986, when the school was in the old Milwaukee Area Conference, according to Dutton’s records. “I just got the smile off my face today,” said Dutton. “The kids wrestled fantastic. It was a good day.” Tremper won four titles but prevailed with its depth as 13 wrestlers placed in the top four.

On Tuesday night, they defeated Stoughton 38-27 in their team sectional.  They will wrestle Arrowhead right away at team state and if they win that dual will wrestle the winner of Holmen and Hudson.  Yes, Holmen made it to team state again this year.

We here at Spartanwrestling.com will be rooting for Kenosha Tremper to trailblaze their way to the state finals and hopefully to a championship.  A win for Tremper at team state is a win for the Spartans.
