Youth Wrestling Program

Sparta wrestling would not be where it is today without a strong and thriving youth program. Starting now, children from kindergarten through 8th grade can join the Sparta Parks and Recreation Department’s youth wrestling team.

Practices start January 4th, 2009 at the Child Center Gym at 923 East Montgomery Street across from the Sparta/Barney Community Center.  Program fees for Sparta residents are $18 while non-residents will have to pay $27.  Be sure to get your payment in by December 31st, 2009 to avoid a $10 late fee.

Youth Wrestling Camp

Also, be sure to check out the 2009 Youth Wrestling Camp put on by high school head coach Jake Larsen.  Larsen was a three-time All-American and national champion while at UW-La Crosse and will bring his high school athletes and coaches over to run an excellent wrestling camp.  This is a great opportunity to get a head start on the competition for the year!  Start your conditioning and get a chance to wrestle with some of the high school wrestlers and coaches.  All proceeds of this program will help support the high school wrestling team!!

The camp will be held on Wednesday, December 30th, 2009 from 5-8pm at the Child Center Gym at 923 East Montgomery Street, which is across the street from the Sparta/Barney Community Center.
